Out of the Box


Fallen Angels Auditions: March 20 & 21, 2023OUT OF THE BOX THEATRE COMPANY, now in its 16th season, is casting for its June 2023 production of Fallen Angels by Noël Coward. David Edwards, director. 
 
This production will be presented live on-stage under the Actors’ Equity Showcase Code. Round-trip subway fare to rehearsals and performances will be reimbursed. Actors will receive a stipend TBD.
 
*****PLEASE NOTE: It is the mission of Out of the Box to cast actors outside the restrictions of age, primarily over the age of 50 when possible. Out of the Box Theatre Company embraces diversity and nontraditional casting. Actors of color are strongly encouraged to audition for all roles. Casting by the Director will be color blind.*****
 
All roles call for strong actors with a broad range, who can add organic depth, levels and layers to their work.
 
Performance Dates: 
Wednesday, June 7, 7:00 pm
Thursday, June 8, 7:00 pm
Friday, June 9, 7:00 pm
Saturday, June 10, 3:00 & 7:00 pm
Sunday, June 11, 3:00 pm
 
Rehearsals:
The first read-through/rehearsal is scheduled for Wednesday, May 3, 1:00–6:00 pm (time to be confirmed).

All rehearsals will be in person, on weekday evenings and weekend afternoons. Dates and location(s) tba.
 
Performances:
Performances will take place LIVE at the Bernie Wohl Center at Goddard Riverside Community Center, 647 Columbus Ave. (bet. 91st and 92nd Sts.), NYC.

Auditions will be conducted via Zoom by appointment only on:
Monday 3/20/23 6:00–10:00 pm
Tuesday 3/21/23 6:00–10:00 pm

Callbacks will be held on Zoom on Saturday 3/25 from 2–5pm. Appointment times will be assigned.
 
Characters: 3 Women, 3 Men. All characters are described in the script as “youngish,” but actors over age 50 are sought. 
 
Character breakdown:
WOMEN:
Julia Sterroll: British, upper middle class, married to Fred. Had a passionate affair with Maurice before her marriage. Knowledge of French pronunciation helpful. May sing and play piano. For the audition, applicants may prepare a brief song, a cappella.
 
Jane Banbury: British, upper middle class, married to Willy. Had a passionate affair with Maurice before her marriage. Knowledge of French pronunciation helpful.
 
Saunders: Housekeeper/maid to Julia and Fred Sterroll. 
 
MEN:
Fred Sterroll: British, upper middle class, married to Julia.
 
Willy Banbury: British, upper middle class, married to Jane.
 
Maurice Duclos: French, dashingly attractive. Basic knowledge of French or French pronunciation helpful but not necessary.
 
PLEASE NOTE: Out of the Box requires all cast and staff to be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19. Proof will be requested at the time of an offer.
 
All COVID-19 pandemic precautions as mandated by the City of New York, CDC, and Actors’ Equity Association will be enforced. 
 
All performances and some rehearsals will be held at the Bernie Wohl Center, which is under the jurisdiction of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). All members of cast and crew will be required also to abide by NYCHA Covid rules.
