The Open Eye Theater Playtime on WIOX Community Radio 91.3 FM, and streaming everywhere at wioxradio.org, presents playwright, Jean Bergantini Grillo and a reading of selected scenes from her play, CRADLE on April 25th from 6:00-7:00pm.
CRADLE is about a young girl, born in London of Bengali Immigrant parents, who shocks her family when she attempts to flee to Syria to join ISIS. Her attempt is thwarted when she is caught up in a bombing attack at Heathrow for which she is wrongly accused. Arrested and hospitalized, her determination to still become a terrorist stun her newly assimilated mother and brings forth just how much and how little two worlds in conflict-cultural, familial, emotional- can ever be bridged.
Guest artists also include Nishi Rajan, Sandy Singh, and Paul Weismann, who will read selected scenes from the play.
Michelle Macau and Erwin Karl will co-host the show.
The mission of The Open Eye Theater is to produce high quality theater performances and other educational programming for a diverse population in the Catskill Mountain Region and beyond enriching the quality of life for theater artists, students, and audiences of all ages.
